Description
According to the Porsche Club GB there were apparently just51 RHD 2. 7 Carrera’s delivered to the UK, 23 Coupes in 1973/ 74 along with15 Targa's, plus 11 Coupes in 1975 & 2 Targa's.
In addition, there were a further 2 other C16 UK RHD spec cars delivered to Germany. This car, and one other given to music mogul, Micky Most by Sony Records, which was modified with Turbo/ 3. 0 RS bodywork and converted by Kremer. Thus, this car, the details below is the only factory silver RHD Coupe dating from 1973/ 4 in the UK.
We understand from the car’s early history that it was ordered by an British Army Officer serving in Germany, which correlates to its Porsche delivery in Düsseldorf during early November 73.
It’s ultimate, driver focused factory specification is as follows:
Non sunroof coupe, manual windows and limited slip differential. Optional Z272 metallic silver without black Carrera script option, black anodized window trim, tinted glass, full pigskin midnight blue leather interior, Blaupunkt Frankfurt radio,
Exported to Hong Kong in 1976 where it remained until it was purchased by a subsequent owner and returned to UK during February 1991, then it remained in the South West of England for the next 20 years before being purchased by the current owner in 2010,
Having contacted the factory and established that this was such an early and rare matching numbers G series Carrera, he decided that the car warranted full professional restoration.
This Carrera has thus been painstakingly rebuilt, using all the original components, or where necessary, genuine Porsche replacement parts.
Most importantly all the right people in the UK were instrumental in the restoration, ensuring that the car is pretty much perfect, probably better than new. Evidently can and will happily declare the list of all contributors. A large file accompanies the car, detailing all aspects of the restoration.
The G series was in production until 1989 and became the quintessential “Poster Porsche”.
One therefore might anticipate that the best of these cars might fare rather well, than perhaps some earlier 911’s, with regard to the constant generational shifts in old car investment trends,
It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you might have. However, to really appreciate this Porsche, it needs to be seen “in the flesh”, so do please call me directly on +44(0)the details below to arrange a viewing.
