Here we have a very exciting opportunity to rescue a rare, family owned Suffix B Range Rover Two Door with only 2 previous owners from new.

The car is obviously in need of lots of work - and as a helping hand it comes with another used shell if required. These are amongst the most exclusive of the 1970s era vehicles in that they were only produced for approximately 12 months, where the other Suffix derivatives ran for a number of years.

Suffix B Range Rovers are visually very similar to the Suffix A cars with the painted C pillars and the famous plastic ‘Kit Kat’ seats, although this example has cloth seats. It is generally accepted that Suffix B cars were the true start to the vehicle’s journey upmarket with such niceties as centre mat carpet, fabric headlining, heated rear screen, and rear screen wash all being part of the standard offering when new, with the main option power steering allowing the vehicle to move to a much wider market.

The vendor’s father purchased the car in 1973 when it was only a few months old, and ran it for 10 years or so before it was laid up. The plan was always to reshell the car, and another bodyshell was purchased for this purpose. Unfortunately, life got in the way and the Range Rover and shell sat dormant for many years.

Following the death of her parents, the owner has now reluctantly decided to sell the Range Rover and shell - and it is being offered as one lot together with assorted parts.

We don't have a lot of documentation other than the old-style V5 and 2x MOT certificates from 1981 and 1982. We also have the original Rover Passport book from when the car was new (the original registration was ‘LES 7) which is a nice touch - there are even a few service stamps from 1973 in the Passport.

We recommend that you come to see the car and the shell in the flesh so as you know exactly what you are buying.
