Description
On behalf of it's owner we are delighted to be offering this very rare Saab. This car is understood to be the sole surviving 9000 SE Turbo automatic in the UK. The SE was the top of the range version of the early 'flat front' 9000 models and only sold in small numbers even when new due to it's list price that was considerably higher than the usual specification Turbo models.
Originally supplied and registered in Guernsey where it spent the first ten years of it's life. It then found it's way to the UK mainland in 1997 and has had 6 keepers in total since then. Finished in Malachite Green with Buffalo leather trim.
Those of you who have attended classic shows and Saab events in the North West (and sometimes far beyond!) of the UK might well have seen this car, it's quite well known. It has been much enjoyed all over Europe including a visit to the Saab museum, where it was even autographed by Gunnar Larsson, the Saab project manager who oversaw the development of the 9000.
It is totally unmodified and to standard specification. It's current owner has owned it since 2019 and a very considerable sum has been lavished on it's upkeep and restorative works since then. Please see the photos of part of the history file.. the figures spent are truly astonishing.
As far as specification is concerned everything was standard on it including Bridge of Weir leather trim, walnut dashboard and door cappings, digital climate control and air con, 4 speed automatic transmission, trip computer, abs brakes, leather steering wheel and electric sunroof.
Overall Condition:
Bodywork:
Excellent! This car presents extremely well with straight panels, original alloys (refurbished and recently shod with Michelin tyres), excellent paintwork and glass and trim in very good order, including the rubber tailgate spoiler. Whilst touring in Europe it did sadly pick up a parking dent beneath the offside rear light cluster and has a small bumper scuff on the offside front corner. Much expenditure has been made on the bodywork and chassis including major expense on the bulkhead area.
Interior:
Superb! The leather was re-conolised a couple of years ago and as a result is almost like new. All the seat padding is nice and plump, not flattened as is often the case with older Saab's. The dashboard is free of cracks and the headlining was also re-trimmed not long ago. There two sets of mats, both tailored, one being carpet and the other rubber including a boot lining. The walnut veneer on the dashboard is in impeccable condition as are the door cappings which have been refurbished.
Mechanical and On The Road:
Top notch! As you can see from the history summary a considerable sum was spent at various Saab specialists including TR Autos who carried out a complete refresh of the engine and turbo. Looking through the file there has been a fortune spent on electrical and mechanical items, far too much to list here. To drive it is exactly how I remember 9000 models being 30 years ago when my parents had them. The effortless mid range surge for which Saab Turbo models are famed is all there along with smooth and positive changes from the auto box. Brakes, steering and suspension are all is you'd want it to be. I would have no hesitation in driving anywhere in this example.
We are open between Christmas and New Year and viewing of this car is essential for would be purchasers.
The current MOT is until May 2025 and the car is HPI clear.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch to arrange a viewing.
