Description
The Triumph TR6 is a sports car that was built by the Triumph Motor Company of England. While production began several months earlier, the TR6 was officially introduced in January as a 1969 model year vehicle. The last TR6 was produced on the 20th of July 1976. Of the 91, 850 TR6s produced, 83, 480 were exported, almost all of them to the United States, while only 8, 370 were sold in the UK. The styling of the body of the TR6 was done by Karmann of Germany. While small changes occurred to the TR6 during its production run, the basic shape and styling cues of the TR6 remained unchanged from beginning to end.
This particular TR6 is the most original example we have seen in many, many years. The car is a chrome bumper model in the most attractive Sapphire blue with Shadow blue interior sold by a Chicago area Triumph dealer on April 11, 1972. It has original documentation dating back to 1972, which includes:
Original bill of sale
Original window sticker
Original license and registration
Original warranty booklet
Original sales brochure
Original owners handbooks
Original service manuals
Original service invoices
The factory paint and interior are also original on this low 35k miles TR6. It has the original engine which was rebuilt by noted Triumph specialist Steve Yott in 2021. A new Robbins gray Stayfast stop and 4 new Vredestein 185X15 radials were also installed in 2021.
This is truly an extraordinary rust free unrestored survivor. As the saying goes they are only new once!
