Description
Launched in 1987 the 928 S4 was the fastest non-turbocharged production car in the world, and whilst the 928’s were famously intended to replace the 911, it’s often forgotten that they could show them a clean pair of heels.
The S4’s saw significant improvements; the V8 was increased from 4. 7 to 5. 0 litres with upgraded cams, piston heads & intake resulting in a whopping 316 bhp and official top speed of 165 mph - a real super car of its day.
The 4 speed automatic gearboxes were given a larger torque converter and work particularly well in these powerful V8 Grand Tourers - the first automatic 2+2 GT car from Porsche and still an incredibly useable and practical classic super car.
This C16 UK car was supplied in Venetian Blue with two tone navy/ cream leather interior and an impressive list of extras:
058 - Impact Absorbers Front & Rear
249 - Automatic gearbox
302 - Model badge on back
330 - Blaupunkt Toronto SQR 46
494 - Additional Amplifier
513- Back Support
650- Electric Sunroof
The boot load cover and rear visors are unusually still in place and the rare Air Conditioning is fully functioning.
Delivered new to the FD of The Levitt Group - see Google for his involvement in a huge investment fraud scandal (how very 80s) it has a super file including the original bookpack confirming that it covered 90, 362 miles upto 2005 with 14 stamps showing regular and proper maintenance. Records confirm only a further 6, 000 being subsequently covered with £11, 000 spent on a recommissioning in 2020 and a further £5, 000 spent on mechanical and trim works in 2022, including attention to the electric windows, mirrors & sunroof.
Records also show that works carried out within the last 1, 500 miles include the fuel & water system, service & new cambelt with a belt tension check and adjustment 300 miles post fit.
This car is definately one of the good ones & drives particularly well; the steering is direct without any play, the brakes are sharp, gearbox is superb and there are no rattles, bumps, whistles or squeaks whatsoever - it doesn’t even have the usual ‘tunnel hum’.
If I was to be critical I’d point out some minor splits to the upper dash and that the interior boot release isn’t functioning, everything else appears to be spot on - it’s MOT’d to September 2025, on the key, running superbly and ready to go.
The sale includes the registration number ADZ 928.
