For the discerning Defender aficionado, this one-of-a-kind 1984 Land Rover Defender D110, known as "UJO," represents a unique opportunity.
Renowned globally as one of the foremost independent Land Rover restomod specialists, Arkonik has reimagined vintage D90 and D110 models with meticulous attention to detail, combining timeless design with cutting-edge engineering. Built to celebrate the company’s roots and ambitions, UJO is Arkonik’s most powerful and ambitious creation to date.
Inspired by founder Andy Hayes’ very first 1984 Defender 110 CSW restoration, the genesis of Arkonik - UJO was unveiled at the NEC Autosport Show in January 2020, marking a new era in Defender restomods. This RHD masterpiece, finished in a unique ‘UJO Blue metallic’ with a Jaguar Pearl roof, pays homage to Hayes’ original Defender while showcasing Arkonik’s capabilities.
The attention to detail in this build is extraordinary, a new custom-fabricated chassis was sourced from a leading specialist in Sheffield, coated in 5 coats of etch-primer, Raptor-coated, painted in gloss black, and adorned with custom hand-painted icons to chart the company ethos. It gives an indication of the standard of build throughout.
At the heart of UJO is a formidable 6. 2L LS3 V8 engine, delivering 430 hp through a 6-speed automatic transmission. This potent powertrain is paired with a Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust, providing a soundtrack as commanding as its performance. Further mechanical upgrades include; TAROX 6-piston brakes paired with Wilwood calipers and Tarox rotors, Bilstein suspension and colour-coded springs, SuperPro bushings for precise suspension geometry. EVO Corse DakarZero 18” alloy wheels shod with Cooper Discoverer tires.
The interior is a harmonious blend of modern functionality and vintage charm. Heated Chelsea Burnt Oak autograin leather seats with tweed inserts provide unparalleled comfort, complemented by a heated steering wheel and a Dakota digital instrument panel. State-of-the-art features include a premium audio system and Truck-Lite heated twin-cat LED headlights, ensuring practicality matches elegance.
Built as a personal project by Andy Hayes himself, UJO is a testament to Arkonik’s 14 years of mastery in Defender restoration. Completed in 2020 and meticulously maintained since.
The vehicle presents in remarkable condition, in seldom use since its build and now offered from its second owner with c. 9, 000 Miles on the Odometer. It stands ready to take you as far as you wish off the beaten track at a moment's notice.
Arkonik Founder, Andy Hayes; “For me, the glory of an Arkonik Defender is the kinetic ability built into it. Whether you unleash its abilities once a year or every day, it is what’s so utterly compelling about them.”
This classic vehicle will be coming to auction with Dore & Rees Auctions on Wednesday 4th December at Five Zeroes Supercars Ltd, Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire. For further information please contact the Motoring department.
