Description
We're delighted to introduce another Mark IV restoration project we're undertaking for a customer who wants to sell the car either now, or when it’s finished. We’re probably about 75% of the way through restoring this 1947 Jaguar Mark IV 3. 5 litre saloon in Black on Grey. This particular car was sold on 23rd April 1947 in Cape Town, South Africa and has chassis number 611078, identifying it as a 1947 RHD 3½ litre saloon, with engine number S1052 and we have a Jaguar Heritage Certificate for the car. The bulk of the restoration was carried out very well by another company here and we are simply finishing it off. The body, paintwork and floor (zero rust!) have all been completed, the engine, gearbox, axles, steering, suspension, etc. all rebuilt and the interior was recovered, but we're doing some minor repairs and cleaning as the car has been standing for about 4 or 5 years. The dashboard, instruments, headlamps, etc. have all been restored, but we have no idea what mileage the car has done so the 50, 000 miles shown in the advert is actually meaningless. The advertised price is for the car as it is – viz: semi-restored. We can complete the restoration, but that may not be until next year and the price will then probably be around the £40, 000 mark. Jeff's Jags is a specialist Jaguar and Daimler-only garage in Johannesburg, where we service, repair, restore and sell Jaguars and Daimlers of all ages. We also export to anywhere in the world.
