Description
This is a very honest and very original vehicle that has been completely stripped down and carefully re-assembled over the last few years. The engine was completely rebuilt by Cox and Turner the specialists in Yeovil, and the gearbox to specialists in Bristol. The body panels have all been resprayed by our local approved body shop, panel by panel before being assembled. The bulkhead is also original, this was sent away restored and treated before spraying.
I have the original log book showing it being first registered to The Secretary of State at the Home Office, May 3rd 1956. The next change after 1 year was to The town clerk, Southend-on-sea borough council. In 1966 it was transferred to Civil Defence also Southend-on-sea. In 1980 the taxation classification was changed to private and it went to 2 other owners, 1 in South Benfleet and the second in Canvey Island. I then acquired the vehicle in 1985 making me the 5th change in ownership. There is a brass plate inside stating Ministry of Supply with the vehicle details and noting a repair September 1956. This is certainly a Series 1 that has been looked after. the body panels are all original. The canvas has all been replaced and the seats recovered. The steering wheel was sent away to have the original Bakelite restored. I fitted parabolic springs to make the ride a little more comfortable and have thoroughly enjoyed the drives since the restoration was completed.
