With hints of Citroen’s rally entries, this late example of Citroen’s sporty Saxo VTR is presented in rich red bodywork, and is a genuine one-owner from new, low mileage model. ‘YC03 XTX’ features Citroen’s 1. 6-litre four-cylinder engine under the bonnet, hooked up to a five-speed manual gearbox, creating the French firm’s famed ‘warm hatch’. This high-specification model included features such as alloy wheels, factory-fitted sunroof, front fog lights, and electric front windows.
Pristinely presented inside and out, ‘YC03 XTX’ is described as in ‘excellent’ condition throughout – from fantastically clean, cloth-upholstered interior, to paint and bodywork, and on to engine, transmission, and electrics. Featuring just 12, 000 miles on the odometer, this Saxo VTR features 12 stamps in the service book, and comes with full owners pack including dealership directory and radio code – it also comes with a spare key.

Exceptional example of Citroen’s sporty supermini
Replacing the AX in 1996, Citroen’s Saxo became the French manufacturer’s key supermini model, available in three- or five-door forms, and offered with five petrol engines and a diesel. With a low kerb-weight of less than one tonne, the Saxo was famed for its handling and peppy performance, particularly the ‘warm’ VTR and range-topping VTS hot hatch. A facelift arrived in 1999, with rounded headlights and grille the most prominent changes. Production continued until 2003, with the Saxo replaced by the C2 and C3, for three- and five-door models respectively.
This Car has been entered into Hampson Auctions, The Bolesworth classic and performance car and motorcycle auction, which will be held at Bolesworth Castle, Tattenhall, Chester, CH3 9JJ on Sunday 24th November 2024.
Viewing sessions will take place at Bolesworth castle from 9am - 7pm on Saturday 23rd November and from 9am - 12:00 on Sunday 24th November, with the auction itself commencing at 12pm on Sunday 24th November, and you are very welcome to join us there.
