The Volvo 240 has developed an almost cult status in contemporary culture. It featured in hit TV series Luther, along with umpteen other films and TV series – and this sought-after 1989 Volvo 240 Estate is your chance to acquire a fabulous example at No Reserve. The vendor describes it as an original North Wales car from new, one that’s remained in the same area as part of a history of long-term ownership. They say the 2. 0-litre engine, five-speed transmission and electrics are ‘excellent’ and the interior is also described as being in ‘excellent’ condition, with plenty of factory-fresh originality.
‘F69DJC’ has an odometer reading just 87, 200 miles. Being a GL-spec Volvo 240, it features smart cloth upholstery, while this car has an original Volvo electronic radio-cassette. A special feature is a genuine factory-fitted towbar with rare Volvo rear suspension air lifter. It has a dealer sticker in the rear window from Anglesey’s Tyn Lon Garage based in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch – the longest town name in Europe. ‘F69DJC’ comes with plenty of original documentation, including an owner’s manual diligently annotated by the original owner. It also has an MOT valid until February 2025.
The long-running Volvo 200 Series was produced for nearly 20 years, between 1974 and 1993, with more than 2. 8 million being produced. It was offered as four-cylinder Volvo 240 and six-cylinder Volvo 260, in both saloon and estate guise, plus a rare two-door saloon. Volvo carefully updated it over the years, and its long-lived status was due to the fact it remained popular throughout its life, despite the arrival of the more upmarket Volvo 700 Series in the 1980s. Indeed, the Volvo 200 Series actually outlived the Volvo 700 Series, and is today a much-respected model on the classic car scene.
Highly original Volvo 240 Estate offered at No Reserve
