1976 MGB Roadster
*** NO RESERVE***

Registration - MOL 800P
Chassis No. - GHN5-392247G
M. O. T. - Exempt
Odometer - 80, 000

This pretty and highly original MGB Roadster is being offered for auction at No Reserve. It has had just two previous keepers and remarkably has been in the vendor’s stewardship since 1979. They say it has spent most of its life parked in a covered garage. The bodywork, believed to be Tahiti Blue, is described as being in ‘average’ condition but the vendor states there is hardly any rust. It is in running condition and only needs a little tuning. It also has the advantage of a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive that’s said to be in ‘good’ condition.

‘MOL800P’ benefits from an overhauled braking system, with a new master cylinder, rear brake shoes and brake cylinders all fitted in November 2023. It has also had a new battery. Inside, there is a removable Blaupunkt stereo cassette player, and upgraded door speakers. The vendor says the odometer currently shows 30, 000 miles, but it has had new clocks, meaning the actual mileage is more like 80, 000. The V5 is also present with this MOT- and tax-exempt classic.

The MGB was revealed in 1962 and remained in production until 1980. The archetypal British classic sports car, well over half a million were produced, and support for the Abingdon-built model remains superb even today. The two-seat soft-top Roadster was the core model, while there was also an MGB GT 2+2 coupe, a six-cylinder MGC and eight-cylinder MGB GT V8. The model was continuously evolved during its lifetime, with key changes including a new dashboard in 1972 and the well-known ‘rubber bumpers’ in 1974.
