An MGB Roadster that has catalogued evidence of extensive work in recent years, ‘LRG602P’ is being offered at No Reserve. A 1976 car, the 1. 8-litre B-Series engine is paired with a four-speed gearbox featuring Overdrive. Work carried out by the previous owner incudes a stainless steel exhaust, new fuel tank and digital fuel pump, plus bodywork including front and rear skirt panels. A replacement hood was fitted in 2016/ 17, the seats were re-covered, five new tyres were fitted and it received replacement halogen headlights including LED front side lights and reversing lights.
‘LRG602P’ has been owned by the vendor since 2019. In that time, they’ve had the engine re-bored, the crankshaft re-ground, and fitted new camshaft, bearings and followers, rocker shaft and rockers. Engine, transmission and electrics are described as being in ‘excellent’ condition. They also invested in a new brake servo and alternator, replacement seat bases and covers, a new heater matrix, LED panel lamps, another replacement hood “and various other bits and pieces”. A big folder of receipts details all the work carried out over the past decade. Finished in period BL blue with black vinyl interior, this pretty MGB Roadster presents well and is a great platform for an enthusiast to develop further.
The MGB was revealed in 1962 and remained in production until 1980. The archetypal British classic sports car, well over half a million were produced, and support for the Abingdon-built model remains superb even today. The two-seat soft-top Roadster was the core model, while there was also an MGB GT 2+2 coupe, a six-cylinder MGC and eight-cylinder MGB GT V8. The model was continuously evolved during its lifetime, with key changes including a new dashboard in 1972 and the well-known ‘rubber bumpers’ in 1974.
