This distinctive 1992 Rover Mini Sprite, in Henley Blue with a black roof is a real enthusiast’s car. Based on the early 1990s entry-level Mini, this custom creation is a bespoke model with a huge list of upgrades that ensure it’s a real one-off. From the outside, the 12x6 Minilite wheels with Falken tyres (sitting below extended wheelarches) stand out, as does the Mk1 quick-release grille, de-seamed front and rear bumpers plus other accessories including retro door mirrors and bonnet straps. The car sits low to the ground courtesy of all-round adjustable dampers, while there are front adjustable tie bars and bottom arms with negative camber currently set to 1 degree. It’s also fitted with four-pot calipers with Mini-Spares grooved discs and Green Stuff brake pads. Inside, it’s all new, with a carbon dash, bucket seats and new door cards, plus other detail upgrades throughout. Newton Commercial moulded carpets and underfelt add a comfortable touch.
‘K759 GRA’ has a fully rebuilt engine, which is polybushed to the subframe and exhaust, that has only covered 1, 000 miles. It has been bored by 30cc, and has a skimmed head, oversized valves and an uprated duplex timing chain. There are twin SU carburettors, an ITG induction kit and air filter, and a Maniflow manifold feeds into a stainless-steel Fletcher 3-inch side exhaust. The standard gearbox has a KAD quickshift mechanism, and a new clutch. Engine and transmission are said to be in ‘excellent’ condition, with ‘good’ bodywork and interior. The vendor adds that when it comes to upgrades, there’s almost too much to list; they’ve owned the car since 2013 and a big folder of paperwork includes plenty of receipts. With just five owners and an odometer reading 62, 815 miles, the vendor says this is a reluctant sale of a much-loved car.
