1967 MG Midget
*** NO RESERVE***
Registration - KHT 393E
Chassis No - GAN4/ 52997
M. O. T. - Exempt
Odometer - 63, 500
This charismatic 1967 MG Midget, which is being offered at No Reserve, is finished in classic British Racing Green with a black leather interior. It has the classic 1275cc A-Series engine, and a four-speed manual transmission. Having covered just 1, 000 miles since a full rebuild, the engine is described as ‘good’, and the transmission as being in ‘excellent’ condition. The bodywork and interior are also ‘good’. The vendor has owned the car for a year, and they report it has had no expense spared in that time, with expenditure of around £3, 000 including a refurbished gearbox, refurbished rear dampers and new front springs. Brand new heater hoses will also be included as parts for the new owner to fit.
‘KHT393E’ has a big A4 folder detailing work that has been carried out over the years, including plenty of invoices and receipts. It also comes with the original jack, copper hammer and spare wheel. The odometer reads just 63. 500 miles. The vendor says it has a higher-geared differential, with the speedometer marked with white pencil to show the correct speed. They add that the car comes with the original chrome bumpers, should the new owner wish to fit them, along with many other spare parts.
The MG Midget name was originally used from the 1920s to the 1950s, but was revived in 1961 for the small new lightweight two-seater that would sit below the MGB in the line-up. The original car was derived from the Austin-Healey Sprite, with various updates through the years culminating in the MG Midget 1500 which was sold between 1974 and 1980. It featured the notorious black plastic bumpers to meet US federal regulations, plus a 1500cc engine from the Triumph Spitfire. This car is the arguably more desirable MkIII, built between 1966 and 1974, with a development of the 1275cc engine from the Mini Cooper S. It combines the classic exterior appearance with a more contemporary interior.
