Description
In Capricorn Blue with a tan leather interior.
Supplied new by Two Mills Garage, Wirral to a firm in Sevenoaks, Kent in May 1973, this lovely GTE SE5a has had only five owners since new one of whom kept it from 1976 until 2018. We supplied it to the last custodian in 2019.
It appears never to have been restored, just very well maintained over the years. There is a good history file with invoices and notes going back to the early Nineties and the original Service Book and Handbook document servicing and repairs. The speedo reads 67, 000 miles and this would appear to be correct.
The specification includes the 3. 0 litre V6 Essex engine with a twin choke Weber carburettor, the rare ZF four speed gearbox, leather seats, the original Radiomobile radio (with its manual), a stainless steel exhaust and petrol tank, and the lovely SE5 alloy wheels.
Looking very smart in its original blue, the GTE is in excellent order inside with new carpets and the dashboard and door cards have survived very well. The seats are very good save for some wear on the driver's side bolster.
Underneath, the chassis has been protected and is very good with little or no deterioration. The bodywork is correct and straight with very good panel fit and the chrome bumpers are virtually unmarked. The paintwork appears to have been refreshed at some point to a decent standard - it shines but is not factory smooth. There is no crazing.
We have had a number of GTEs over the years, and this car is without doubt one of the very best driving examples. It is smooth, stops and steers very nicely and the ride is excellent. It is also quiet with a tight, untouched interior and it feels very well looked after.
