Description
1972 Alfa Romeo GT Junior 1600. Only 47494 miles and requiring a full and comprehensive restoration. Very complete and original example.
Originally registered and supplied by Melbourne Garage Ltd, Route Des Issues, Jersey and imported to the UK during 1973. This is verified by a letter from Alfa Romeo GB dated 1975 addressed to the third owner. The car was bought by the last and third owner from a dealer in Gosport Hampshire in November 1975, the mileage at this point being 18924 miles according to the sales invoice.
During the early 1980’s the owner had the car resprayed in Alfa Rosso Red, the original colour being Capodimonte White. There is a picture on our listing dating back to the late 70's showing the car at Goodwood in its original colour.
In the late 80’s the car was parked up in his four car garage and never turned a wheel since. The garage suffered at one point a leaking roof which was repaired but the leak took its toll on the Alfa’s bodywork.
The bright work remains in particularly good shape as its stainless steel. The interior is totally original and retains the original rubber factory flooring with the Alfa embossed logos in place and unworn to any degree. Not something you often see.
The car will need a substantial restoration as you can glean from the pictures. Assume that the engine may be seized as it hasn’t been started for 35 years. The ignition and door keys have been misplaced and the V5 is currently being reapplied for.
A challenging yet equally vastly rewarding project which is pretty much a blank canvas for someone.
Complete with original Sales brochure, bill of sale dated November 1975, Instruction manual and Alfa Dealer directory.
