Honda Motorcycles was founded by Soichiro Honda in 1937, initially producing piston rings for Toyota. After making their first motorcycle in 1949, within 10 years they became the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world, going on to produce over 400 million two-wheelers as well as millions of other power products. The CBR1100 Blackbird, named after the Lockheed SR-71 aircraft, was the world's fastest production motorcycle when released in 1996 and held that title until the arrival of the Suzuki Hayabusa a few years later. Powered by a 1, 137cc, inline-four developed from the Fireblade engine, the bike offered 164bhp and could exceed 180mph.
The Bike:
This 2001 model is in excellent running condition and has covered just 13, 987 miles. Finished in Candy Glory Red, there are some small marks on the bodywork commensurate with its age, but it is otherwise in good condition. It remains completely original, except for the added peace of mind provided by a 'Datatool' alarm system. Supplied with its current V5C, original owner's manual and service book, as well as a history file containing service receipts and previous MOT certificates. The bike has a full MOT valid until April 2025.
