THIS CAR
- A wonderfully restored an upgraded 1963 Volvo PV544.
- Upgrades include:
- 5x GT Spec Wheels (full set of original steel wheels, inc. hub caps, included with sale)
- Bilstein Shock Absorbers
- Reinforced Front Suspension Arms
- Front Disc Brakes
- Rally Spotlights
- The car was fully restored with light historic rallying/ touring in mind, although it could EASILY be reverted back to standard road car spec. Therefore, as well as the above improvements, the original front seats were replaced with comfortable and ‘reclinable’ Sparco competition seats and race harnesses.
- NOTE: The original front seats are included with the sale, and can be easily re-fitted to the car.
- A Monit G-100 Rally Timer was fitted, along with a two-channel VWR Traceable Digital Timer.
- As you can see from the photographs, the bodywork is immaculate and corrosion free. The same is true of the underside!
- The legendary B18 engine is running standard road cams and single Stromberg carburetor, and it really does performs beautifully.
- We carried out a compression test on the engine and even from cold, the cylinder pressures were all between 135-145 psi, which shows just how healthy it is.
WHAT WE THINK
- This is without doubt the nicest PV544 we’ve seen.
- We drove this car all the way back from the Netherlands when we collected it, and it honestly hasn’t missed a beat. Well sorted PV544s are a total joy to drive, and this really is one of the best.
- In its current configuration it's a fantastic option for someone looking to enter light historic rallying and touring, but it would also be very simple for someone to convert back to road trim if all they wanted was a beautifully restored standard PV544.
- Moreover, it would serve as a fantastically solid base from which to further develop a more extensively prepared endurance rally car.
