About this BMW Alpina
This E28 Generation 1982 Alpina TWR 3. 5 is an exceptionally rare modern classic sports saloon converted in period by racing outfit Tom Walkinshaw Racing which held the UK franchise prior to Sytner.
It is powered by a naturally aspirated 3. 5-litre straight-six, delivering around 240bhp and 236lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.
Prior to Sytner’s involvement with Alpina, the German tuner’s franchise holder in the UK was Tom Walkinshaw Racing. The BMW E28 Alpina TWR 3. 5 was based on a standard E28 BMW 528i, from which TWR removed the standard 2. 8-litre engine and fitted a more powerful 3. 5-litre engine, while also adding Bilstein dampers and upgraded brakes
Other changes include the front air dam, TWR and Alpina branding, blue and green stripes on the bumper as well as upgraded Alpina striped seats.
This particular car was delivered as a 528i in Sapphire Blue and reportedly received its upgraded by TWR in 1984. The five-speed manual gearbox is said to have been installed later in 2003.
Retaining its Sapphire Blue colour this is complemented by Alpina cloth-trimmed interior with green and blue Alpina accents on the seats, and blue carpets and door cards.
The car is accompanied by the BMW owner’s handbook, the toolkit, a spare wheel, and a large selection of paperwork from Munich Legends covering its recent restoration.
The invoice for the restoration in September 2021 came to a total of £32, 475.
Whilst this car has been with us we have now completed a few more finishing touches such as a Dry ice engine bay and detail , Alloy Wheel Refurbishment, New Exhaust Centre, Underside Vehicle detail and Waxoil, BMW Inspection II Service including Valve clearances.
An incredible rare magazine featured car which will fit extremely well into any Alpina or M collectors garage.
