Rolls-Royce Derby Phantom I (New Phantom 40/ 50) of 1929, ordered as a long chassis by a Miss Watson in December 1928 and sent to coachbuilder Hooper in January 1929 for finishing touches. The Phantom was the top-of-the-range model of the famous British manufacturer, nicknamed "the best car in the world", and was bodied as an "Open Tourer", a 4-door convertible sometimes called a "Torpedo". Displacement 7. 7 litres (in-line 6-cylinder) with aluminium cylinder head. Off-white and black paintwork with deep red Connolly leather upholstery. Finished to the highest standards by the finest craftsmen. Walnut woodwork (dashboard, door tops, storage/ bar in rear compartment). 21-inch Michelin tyres. Long-range lights. Lucas headlights. Rear trunk. Side-screens. The car is very sound (having benefited from an extensive restoration some fifteen years ago) and remains in very good general condition.
