The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR was a special edition of the iconic Lancer Evolution X, created to commemorate Mitsubishi’s 40th anniversary in the UK and to be the ultimate high-performance model in the Evo line. Released in 2014, this limited-edition Evo was exclusive to the UK market, with only 40 units produced, making it one of the rarest Evos ever made. The “FQ” series, known for high-performance tuning by Mitsubishi UK, reached its peak with the FQ-440, which featured a heavily modified version of Mitsubishi’s 2. 0-litre 4B11T turbocharged engine. This model produced an astounding 440 bhp, far surpassing previous models, thanks to enhancements like a high-flow fuel injector, upgraded turbocharger, and an ECU remap. Paired with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, the FQ-440 delivered unparalleled handling and performance. With aggressive styling, Recaro seats, and a focus on track-ready capabilities, the FQ-440 MR served as a fitting farewell to the Lancer Evolution line, ending an era for Mitsubishi’s high-performance rally-inspired vehicles.
We are delighted to offer this 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X FQ-440 MR in Frost White with black half leather / Alcantara interior. Our vendor bought the car brand new in October 2014 from Anthony Betts Mitsubishi in Hemel Hempstead. He tells us he had to enter a raffle to be given the opportunity to order and then put down a hefty deposit. It was worth all the effort to bag one of the 40 cars and he’s had it ever since. It’s had 6 services, all with Anthony Betts and has now covered just over 7, 000 miles. It comes with the all-important letter from Mitsubishi Motors confirming that it is a genuine FQ440 MR.
The FQ440 was the last hurrah for the Evo and the specification was fantastic. Aside from the stellar drivetrain some of the highlights were:-
Janspeed exhaust, intake and manifold
Alcon brakes all round, 6 pot on the front
Lowered suspension with Eibach springs
Forged BBS alloys
Recaro seats
Rockford Fosgate premium audio, 8 speakers and sub-woofer
Sat nav
Bluetooth with music streaming
Climate control
Cruise control
Outside, the car presents beautifully with only minimal signs of wear. This is definitely one of those cars that we would recommend you come and view yourself at our purpose-built premises - we doubt you’ll be disappointed. It’s a little less “in your face” than some of the older versions but all the better for it and still both aggressive and purposeful. The interior is lovely with no obvious wear or damage - even the substantial seat bolsters are in great shape. A nice touch is that a second set of car mats have been used to protect the embroidered and numbered FQ440 mats that came with the car.
The car comes with a V5C, current and previous MOTs, letter of veracity, full book pack, Tracker certificate of installation and a copy of Evolution magazine where it was featured.
The word iconic is probably over-used in classic car circles but it’s hard to deny that the Lancer Evolution has earned its place in performance car history. This car ticks all the boxes for a Japanese car collector - last of the line, very limited edition, huge specification, low miles and great condition - and undoubtedly has great investment potential. If you miss this one, it might be a while until you see another.
