The Triumph Stag, introduced in 1970, was envisioned as a luxurious grand tourer with a distinctive blend of performance and refinement. Designed by Giovanni Michelotti, it boasted sleek lines, a graceful profile, and a unique T-shaped roll bar, which became its signature feature. Under the hood, the Stag housed a 3. 0-litre V8 engine, renowned for its smooth power delivery and distinctive exhaust note. However, early models were plagued by reliability issues, particularly with the cooling system, tarnishing its reputation. Despite this setback, the Stag's elegant design and spirited performance endeared it to enthusiasts and, over time, retrospective solutions were found for the engine issues. Production ceased in 1977, with over 25, 000 units built. Today, the Triumph Stag enjoys a good following, cherished for its timeless styling and the allure of open-top motoring.
We are pleased to present this example which, as can be seen from the photographs, requires a full restoration. However, it appears to be largely complete and as a consequence, it will make a great restoration project for its new owner.
The Stag has stood for the last 30 years and is only being sold due to that fact that the vendor has realised that she will never get round to restoring the car herself! The vendor has told us that this used to be her daily car until being laid up.
It rolls for loading purposes, but we have not attempted to start the car.
The Stag comes with a number of manuals and the original driver's handbook, plus the old style V5 and some old MOTs which appear to back up the mileage showing.
Given the condition, we recommend you inspect the Stag to know exactly what you are purchasing.
