- Car number 104
The Lotus Carlton was a Vauxhall Carlton upgraded by Lotus Cars to be a 177mph sports saloon with acceleration equal to contemporary supercars. When released, it was the fastest four-door saloon car in the world. The external differences were minimal with the addition of a rear spoiler, air intakes on the bonnet, Lotus badges on the front wings and bootlid, a bodykit and considerably wider wheel arches. The car was only sold in one colour, a shade of British Racing Green called Imperial Green, a very dark green that in anything but direct light appears black.
Registered new on 1st August 1992 this lovely example is presented in its original specification and is in excellent condition throughout. The paintwork is superb and retains a deep shine and the engine bay and underside are also very clean. The interior has clearly been well looked after throughout its life showing no major signs of age, the seats and bolsters are in good condition and the dashboard, door cards, and carpets are all very presentable. In very good running and driving condition the Carlton is accompanied by a sizeable history file including many sundry bills, maintenance and service invoices dating back to the 90s, many old Mot records, the Lotus certificate of vehicle provenance, a current Mot with no advisories valid until September 2025, and its UK registration document. In recent years this handsome example has resided in a private collection and is exercised and maintained regularly. This is surely one of the best examples available on the market today.
