Description
Aermacchi Harley-Davidson grand prix racebike
The extremely rare early aircooled model was only build for the worksriders as Pasolini, Bonera, Rougeri and some Italian championship riders. The 250 cc aircooled twins employed dual separately removable cranks, had individual cylinder and large finned heads , straight-cut gears, a six-speed gearbox and exposed dry clutch, twin Mikuni 34 mm carbs, twin tuned expansion chambers and a Dansi CD ignition. It developed 55 hp at the rear wheel at 12, 000 rpm, good for 230 km/ h (143 mph). When Renzo Pasolini ( viceworldchampion '72) was killed at the Monza-cicruit on the new watercooled 250 GP in 1973 most of the the older worksbikes were dismantled and shelved. Later in the 90ies former works machanic Albino Fabris bought the obsolete stock of bikes and parts from the factory and started re-asssembling the former racebikes. This bike is the second aircooled he build up from these worksparts. These aircooled 250cc grand-prix bikes were never sold to customers so are extremely rare. Only handfull are known to exist .
