Description
1979 Lancia Gamma Coupe 2500cc. Blue Scuro with blue crushed velour upholstery. It is equipped with the larger 2. 5-litre engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. In 1975, in an effort to once again ignite enthusiasm for the Lancia marque, the Fiat engineers, coordinated by Sergio Camuffo called upon the famed Pininfarina to design a new car, the Lancia Gamma. Aimed squarely at the market occupied by Mercedes and BMW, the Gamma had the ambition of becoming the Fiat Group's prestige vehicle and was presented in both saloon and coup? versions. No parts were to be interchangeable with any Fiat model, thus contenting the Lancisti of yore. Originally intended to have hydropneumatic suspension by Citroen, the Gamma ended up with four-wheel McPherson struts la Lancia Beta. While the Gamma saloon was built in the Lancia factory in Chivasso, near Turin, the coup? was actually built in the designer Pininfarina's prestigious atelier at the rate of about 10 per day. The presses used to form the bodywork were the same as those used for the Ferrari 400, to which more than a passing resemblance is borne. This beautiful Lancia has been with its last owner for 12 years and has had minimal use during this time although it has had regular maintenance and is well known to the owners club and has attended many shows. The condition speaks for itself and is possibly the best Gamma Coupe available today, a very rare car made even more special by being a right hand drive model, it displays flawless paintwork and an unmarked interior, the chassis is very solid with no signs of any corrosion whatsoever. The car has just 53, 000 miles recorded which we believe to be correct and old mot certificates in the folder would seem to back this up although due to the age we are unable to guarantee this. The flat four boxer twin cam engine is a true sports car and with the 5 speed gearbox is very capable in modern traffic, and with power steering a real joy to drive. Importantly the cam belts were changed less than 2, 000 miles ago. The history file contains bills, invoices and lots of old mot?s as well as copies of V5?s of previous owners. Very few Gammas have survived and according to How Many Left it is thought that there are only 8 coupes in the U. K with just 3 on the road. It was driven 130 miles to us without any issues and is now ready for its next adventure. A car that we are very proud to offer, it will certainly grace any showground and fit into any private collection. Although now tax and mot exempt a fresh mot will be applied for your own peace of mind. Absolutely any inspection welcome. All major debit and credit cards accepted. Part exchange considered. Free U. K mainland delivery. Please contact us for any further information. Lots more pictures and a video on our website and Facebook page.
