Description
f you are reading this advert, the motorcycle is STILL for sale.
Fresh into, this UK supplied and UK registered two owner, June 1975 Triumph T160 with matching numbers, and original handbook. Some great modifications have been done to it - Borrani rims front and back, electronic ignition and twins disc with Grimeca front calibers, LP William oil pressure gauge and Raygun silencers! This is probably the best sounding T160 we have ever heard. Runs and rides faultlessly, everything works. It will sit ticking over with 80 psi oil pressure! The bike started life in the UK, went to the Isle of Man, then to N Ireland, but it now back in England and fully UK registered. Comes with lots of old MOTs and a receipts, one of being for parts for an engine rebuild some years ago.
The T160 is probably the best motorcycle ever to wear the Triumph badge. Conceived by NVT, designed at Umberslade Hall and built at the old BSA factory in Small Heath, Birmingham. Improvements over the T150 it replaced was firstly a left hand gear chant set up. This was need as all motorcycles for the US market had to be left hand gear change from January 1975. The cylinders were lent forward like the BSA Rocket 3 (but by another 3 degrees) not to allow room for the starter motor, but a bigger airbox to meet the ever stringent US EPA noise limits. Annular Discharge silencers were also fitted for the same purpose. One of the things Umberslade Hall worked on was the handling, this was improved greatly over the T150 by shortening the fork stanchions and increasing the length of the swinging arm. The triple now handled well. Other major upgrades were the rear disc brake, electric start, and a neutral warning light, and for some reason, a chrome side stand! The clocks and mounting were also a great improvement over previous models. All in all a fabulous bike, some say a bit too late. Only around 7, 000 T160s were made, so a rare bike indeed. Be quick on this one, it's one of the nicest we have ever had, it won't be here long at this price!
