Bought from the chap who renovated the bike including the fitment of an expensive (£450+ plus fitting) high quality 12v conversion.
Very original and in just lovely condition all round. Bike runs on Motul Semi Synthetic and starts easily and runs perfectly.

2020 WORK LIST:
Frame & Cycle parts
- Frame pressure washed, cleaned polished and touched up where necessary
- No evidence of damage/ collision. The bottom rails are perfect indicating minimal off-road activity
- Top & bottom yolk removed and repainted
- Headstock fitted with new ball races & greased
Swinging Arm & Chainguards
- Swinging arm & chainguards removed and refinished in gloss black complete with brand-new bushings and inserts - filled with fresh grease
- New grease nipple
Front Forks & Stanchions
- Front forks removed and rebuilt with new seals and filled with SAE10 oil to factory spec
- Stanchions in excellent condition with no evidence of wear or pitting
- Sliders stripped and carefully polished using wet and dry and polish
Rear Shocks
- Period-correct thermal phase shocks partially dismantled, cleaned / checked
- Refinished in Satin Black
Chain & Sprockets
- New gold final drive chain & sprockets
- (rear sprocket zinc electroplated to match period finish)
- New Tab Washers
Front & Rear Wheels & Tyres
- Front & rear wheels stripped & polished
- Rear wheel spokes/ nipples removed & replated
- New bearings fitted
- Both rims in excellent condition with original chrome showing no rusting
- Period pattern Kenda block pattern tyres with new inner tubes & rim tapes
Brakes
- Brake plates & hubs polished with wet and dry (not machine polished) then hand polished
- New Vesrah brake shoes/ springs fitted to the front
- New EBC shoes fitted to the rear
Ancillaries
- Mudguards, shrouds, headlamp bucket & taillight bracket re-sprayed in period correct crystal silver with clearcoat finish
- Exact reproduction seat cover & foam sourced from California USA (£250)
- Seat pan and hinges stripped and repainted Satin Black
- Two new period pattern Yamaha mirrors fitted
Fuel & Air
- Oil/ fuel/ intake/ exhaust
- Air filter & box removed, cleaned and repainted
- New air filter foam, oiled and fitted over cage
- Fuel tank de-rusted and soda flushed
- Tourmax petcock fitted with using new OEM fibre washers
- Fuel cap dismantled, internals electroplated and new rubber gasket fitted
Carburettor
- Carburettor dismantled and ultrasonically cleaned
- Rebuilt with new jets and gaskets
- Repainted in factory correct black enamel
- New rubber boot fitted to top
Autolube Oil Pump
- Oil pump dismantled & ultrasonically cleaned
- Rebuilt with new seals & and gaskets
- Stroke & range adjusted to factory spec
- New banjo, delivery line & gaskets
- Oil tank cleaned and fitted with OEM hose to oil pump
- New cap & cork gasket
Exhaust
- Silencer & baffles (Krisman spark arrestor) decarbonised refinished finished in heat resistant black, with new o-ring gaskets between tail & silencer body
- Heat guard, repolished, and refinished and fitted with new felt washers
Engine/ Gearbox
- Cylinder head & barrel removed, cleaned and inspected
(No evidence of seizure or overheating. Original piston and rings in good condition overall)
- Reed valve & block inspected and refitted with new gaskets
- Crankshaft shows no sign of wear or noise when running
- Main bearings & gudgeon pin are good
- Barrel & cylinder head repainted in heat resistant black including fins
- Fins cut back to natural (factory) finish for contrast
- Engine shows no sign of being split since factory assembly with Yamabond still visible around the horizontal joints in the crank cases
Clutch
- New clutch springs fitted
- Crank case seals on clutch side & ignition side both replaced
Engine Casings
- All engine casings removed, cleaned and finished with wet and dry paper and metal polish (no machine polishing)
- New gasket set
Gearbox
- Gearbox oil replaced to 1300cc as per factory grade
- New oil seals on kickstarter, shifter linkage & gearbox output shafts
Electrical & Instruments
- New Yuasa 6 V battery fitted in 2019 (12v conversion in Mar 2024 £450)
- Replica aftermarket period correct indicators & stems fitted, complete with 6V bulbs
- Rex's speedshop 6V voltage regulator fitted to magneto output (these were a factory extra in 1975 and standard from '76 on)
- New points & flywheel removed and cleaned
- Auto advance retard system lightly oiled & timed to factory spec with DTI indicator and "buzz box"
- Switches & Ignition fob dismantled, cleaned and reassembled with light grease on moving parts
- Spare keys cut (original one satisfactory)
- Matching Keyring with DT 175 logo
9 Feb 2024 – Derry ordered up the 12v conversion kit and gel battery to carry out conversion (£400)
Vape Powerdynamo kit (406. 16 € / £345. 49) plus Rex Speed Shop batter & 55/ 60w headlamp bulb (£71. 70) ex fitting. Rex stuff delivered 12 Feb 24 – est Vape delivery 13 Feb 24.
Removal of original flywheel, generator, coil points and advance retard mechanism. Fit battery and replace all 12v bulbs.
26 Feb 2024 – New fuel line pipe (Yambits).
7 August 2024 – RRPM Forks drained, springs removed and cut to 460mm (vs 441mm factory) as they too long and were solid. New fluid. £126
