Although the Triumph Dolomite range, introduced in 1972, had proved to be refined and sporty, competitors such as BMW's 2002 had a performance advantage which was costing Triumph dearly, both in terms of sales and prestige
To remedy this, they unveiled the Dolomite Sprint in June 1973 powered by a 1, 998cc, 16-valve, SOHC four-cylinder producing 127bhp and enabling 119mph and 8. 4 seconds to 60mph
Originally a French-delivered car, this 'Dolly' was converted to right-hand drive following its import and registration in the UK in 1980
Finished in Tahiti Blue with contrasting vinyl roof and C-pillar coverings with bright yellow 'Sprint' badges with black and grey striped cloth seats and black carpets with wooden inlays to the dashboard
Inside of the boot lid is signed by Andy Rouse and Gerry Marshall, legendary exponents of the Dolly Sprint in period
Large history file containing older MOTs, hundreds of historical invoices, partially stamped service record, several hand-written service notes and maintenance records, Dyno print out sheets, the original Passport to Service, owners manual and two sets of keys
