This head-turning, award-winning custom Split-Screen camper has turned heads from day one. Originally built by Simon Jones in 2007, this incredible van was the featured cover star for Volksworld Camper & Bus (August 2007) and a winner of numerous trophies at prestigious shows like Volksworld, this is a vehicle like no other.
Simon spent £35, 000 between 2002 and 2007 on the build, so it was obviously a high-end restoration back then. Collaborating with the best in the industry to achieve this hot rod-inspired masterpiece. The original paintwork is a striking yellow-orange, with an eye-popping pearlescent green added by a later owner.
Complementing the bold exterior are fully polished bumpers, pop-out windows, deluxe trim, and the extremely rare 14” Porsche Fuchs alloys, originally fitted to the early 911’s and 912’s “Comfort” option, adding a touch of classic Porsche elegance.
The interior was entrusted to Simon Weitz of Interior Motive, a master craftsman known for his interior work inside places such as St. Paul’s Cathedral and Windsor Castle. Simon’s vision was for a stylish day van, incorporating a curved seating area for his family. Ingeniously, the table converts into a double bed, neatly stowing away in a rear cabinet with its cushion. Entertainment is taken care of with two mini LCD TVs that rise from the cabinet, connected to an Xbox and DVD player to keep everyone entertained.
For the upholstery, Bernard Newbury Auto Interiors was brought in to create a unique American diner-inspired look with a hint of ‘Flash Gordon’ flair. The silver seats, flame-embossed door cards, and bespoke carpets all reflect the top-tier craftsmanship that has kept this interior looking fantastic over the years.
With the increasing demand for vintage buses in wedding transport, proms, stag nights, and hen parties, this vehicle could become a profitable venture with the right licensing. Alternatively, it’s ready to be enjoyed as one of the most iconic custom Split-Screens built in recent years.
