The California body is made by a" Ferrari Guru " Coachbuilder in Modena ( Italy ) !!!! Description : This Ferrari was originally delivered new to Italy in 1962 as a Ferrari 250GTE. It was then purchased by a prominent Ferrari collector who was also an official dealer for Ferrari at the time. The exquisite lines of this beautiful all-aluminium body were commissioned in the 1980s and completed by renowned coachbuilder Mario Allegretti of Modena, a man famous for his coach-built Ferrari cars. He completed the craftsmanship to the highest standards and built to the exact specifications of an original California Spider. The paint was completed by Egidio Bonfatti of Modena and the finishing was done by Fratelli Luppi, both Ferrari specialists. Simply put, if you put this car next to an original, it is extremely difficult to tell it apart. It is a nut-and-bolt copy of an original that was used as a reference for the construction of this car.
The car sits on corrected chrome Borrani wheels and is fitted with period Veglia instrumentation as per the original.
The Ferrari red exterior paint is flawless, as is the tan interior.
We photographed and drove this car and can attest to its excellence; attention to period detail.
Veglia's tachometer shows only 4700 km since its construction.
Officina di Modena 2019 with Mauro Forghieri and Egidio Bonfatti inspecting the Ferrari 250 GTE with Allegretti California Spyder bodywork. As for the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, the car was inspected by the judge of the Ferrari Concours a few months ago to confirm the full story and attached are a couple of photos with Mario Allegretti with the car. We have a statement from Stefano Allegretti (2016) confirming that the car was repainted by Mario Allegretti in the 1980s. Mario Allegretti's work has been confirmed by Enzo Forghieri (Enzo Ferrari's iconic engineer) and Egidio Bonfatti of Modena, who is Ferrari's bodywork and paint specialist. It was used sparingly on holidays and holidays by the current elderly owner who commissioned the car.
