Cam belts – the good news is that each replacement is at a truly ‘peanuts’ cost compared with modern cars, and this car comes with a new cambelt fitted just 60 miles ago, last driven this week, late October 2024.

THE S3 STORY
The S3 Esprit was available from 1981 until 1987. Just 767 S3s were produced during this time featuring the established twin overhead cam 2. 2 litre engine used throughout the Esprit’s life, in this instance in normally aspirated form.
Good news in that the S3 Esprit appeared with most of the Esprit TURBO’ s chassis and suspension changes. At the rear there was new suspension, using lower wishbones, upper links and trailing arms. During this period Lotus was moving its image even further upmarket, the Esprit becoming pricier and better equipped.
134 mph was possible, with a 0-60 mph time in a respectable 6. 7 seconds for the day.
