Description

History At the presentation of the 928, the design polarised opinion: some observers praised the clarity of the lines, others found them 'atypically German'. A special feature was the retracted C-pillar at the rear and the curved rear side windows. The Porsche designers took up an idea that Richard Teague had first realised on the AMC Pacer in 1975. The design of the 928 was influential. In the following years, it served as inspiration for various manufacturers for their own models. The 928S4 presented here is available with all its documents, was first delivered by AMAG Switzerland in 1989, was regularly driven until 2014 and was fully serviced. This 928 was then kept in a collection for 8 years before it was added to the Goodtimer collection. This S4 drives like a new car with all its modern functions such as ABS, automatic air conditioning, electric seat adjustment with memory and heating, sound system, electric tailgate with fold-down function and much more. The Porsche 928 is on its way to establishing itself as the classic car of the future. Over the past 35 years, this luxurious and powerful sports car has clocked up an average of just over 3, 000 kilometres per year and passed the veteran's test without any faults for the first time in January 2022. Bodywork and paintwork: The bodywork is absolutely undamaged and the gaps and add-on parts are in excellent condition. The paintwork was professionally refurbished and wax-sealed in summer 2024. Interior: The interior of this example is in a rarely seen fabric and leather combination and in immaculate condition. The dashboard panelling has been repaired with genuine leather in areas exposed to the heat. All instruments are intact and function perfectly. Engine and mechanics: The original inspection booklet is present and documents the service care of this 928 S4. The engine and exhaust emission values of the Gran Tourismo with catalytic converter correspond to the factory specifications and are MFK-compliant. The automatic gearbox shifts smoothly and the brakes were overhauled in 2024. Chassis: Chassis and brakes show perfect values on the test bench. The brake system was completely overhauled in 2025 at a cost of around CHF 6, 000. The underbody is undamaged, unwelded and in its factory-preserved condition. Driving experience: The Porsche 928 is a true Grand Tourismo, this S4 drives like a new car with all its modern functions such as ABS, automatic air conditioning, electric seat adjustment with memory and heating, sound system, electric tailgate with fold-down function and much more. The car is extremely directionally stable and is easy and relaxed to drive. The V8 propels the 1600kg family coupé easily up to over 250km/ h. Recommendation: The Porsche 928 is a solid value in the classic car sector. Its special body and powerful engine had little to do with Porsche's 911 culture, which also caused resistance at the time. Comfort, long-distance capability, spaciousness and reliability won out in the end, making the 928 a collector's car of the future. This extremely well-maintained example still exudes the scent and ambience of the late 1980s.
