EXTERIOR
Agility, aerodynamics and cooling are all at the top of the agenda with the design of the 718 GT4 RS – a definitive representation of racer for the road.
Menacing in A1 black, this delivery mileage 2024 RS looks like a test car ready for an upcoming race series. Everything has been optimised and enhanced to ensure an even balance of B road brilliance and track tactility. A re-designed front bumper ensures excellent air flow while an adjustable Le Mans inspired rear wing improves downforce; all complimented by new underbody deflectors and diffuser fins – technical highlights that honour the Renn Sport reputation.
Two NACA ducts in the Carbon bonnet direct air to the front wheels, ensuring the brakes are always reactive in the most challenging of conditions, while the air vents at the top of the wheel arches prevent lift at the front axle.
INTERIOR
The GT race car theme continues inside with big carbon-backed 918 bucket seats to secure both driver and passenger in-place. Alcantara generously covers the cabin space throughout with the lower dash, door cards, seat inserts, crested arm rest, steering wheel and gear surround double silver stitched with Porsche’s finest black leather to the top of the dashboard; again treated to a silver thread either side of the vents. The titanium roll cage, as per Weissach spec, is finished in a subtle shade of black.
With the presence of mod-cons such as front-lift, PCM, BOSE Surround and reversing camera, alongside a switchable exhaust, the car can be used daily, long distance or comfortably to and from track.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Whilst the visual effects of the engine are minimal they are hidden behind carbon covers which look fantastic, the audible effects along with it’s power are ferocious. Considering this engine is shared with it’s GT3 big brother you get all the technical highlights; rigid rocker arms, individual throttle bodies and dry sump lubrication.
With a sharp bark at start-up and a flat-six howl under-load, made all the more dramatic thanks to the rear quarter intake right next to the occupants ears, there’s no doubt this is one of Stuttgart’s finest.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The unmarked lightweight 20-inch satin black lattice wheels are complimented by Michelin’s Pilot Sport Cup 2’s that show as new.
Stuttgart’s incredible PCCB system reveals large 6-pot Black calipers, with 4-Pot on the rear, clamping huge drilled ceramic discs to provide plenty of stopping power whether on road or track.
With a GT3 RS front axle, helper springs and adjustable toe, camber and anti-roll bar settings this Cayman can be dialled in to suit the driver’s preferences.
