Description
Peugeot 206 Roland Garros 1. 6 Petrol Manual
Mechanically the engine pulls very well in all gears and the clutch still feels responsive. The cam belt was last changed in March 2022. The oil was last changed in September 2023.
Regrettably, structurally the vehicle needs some welding work behind the front wheel wells on the bulkhead (as per the pictures) and a replacement front suspension top mount bearing in order to pass its next MOT. The current MOT is valid until 27th October, so after this time the vehicle will need to be towed on collection.
Advisories of note for the most recent MOT were as follows:
-Braking system work, slight brake pipe corrosion and front disks/ pads will need changing soon
-Front coil springs corroded
-Slight sill corrosion at sill jacking points (the rear suspension component advisories)
-Slight exhaust leak at front
-Oil leak which could have been related to the rocker cover leak which has recently been fixed
-Although the rear subframe/ axle was an advisory for corrosion, it is still functioning well (as this is a common failure on these models). The garage advised that this area can be treated/ painted rather than needing replacing. This Roland Garros model stands out with it's panoramic glass roof, original alloy wheels and really comfortable leather interior which is still in excellent condition.
The stereo with its 6 CD auto changer and radio (even cassette option!) has excellent audio quality with steering wheel mounted controls as a bonus.
One family owned car since new which I have owned since 2009. Full documented history of services/ mechanical work carried out.
As this is an earlier model, the electrical system is slightly simpler with 'part plexed' wiring, so is less prone to electrical issues than later models. Similarly the simpler 8 valve 1. 6 engine is easier to work on.
This car will be an ideal project for someone with welding experience. Being a special edition this will surely be an appreciating classic in the coming years
