This must be one of the finest, fully restored R80’s in the country.
The bike has just arrived after a fastidious five year restoration, and the pictures simply do not do the bike justice.
The bike was stripped to the last nut and bolt, and mechanical refurbishment was entrusted to the well respected Roger Bennett, long time BMW specialist engineer. This included a FULL rebuild of engine and gearbox, and invoices for the work are on file. The frame, and all associated metalwork went to Triple S, and we’re powder coated in gloss black. A brand new genuine S fairing and screen, complete with auxiliary clocks, was ordered from Germany, pre finished in the correct dunkelblau metalic, then C and G paints in Liverpool refinished the bike to original spec. Clearly, many thousands of pounds, and many hours have been invested in the bike. It’s superb.
I guess the pictures tell the rest of the tale. Refinished wheels, new tyres, new brakes, new battery, etc, etc. Also fitted with some nice upgrades, including new crashbars, stainless exhaust system, Motobat battery, Surefoot sidestand, pannier rails / carrier, stainless push rod tubes, and twin disc conversion. Under the seat, there’s the toolkit, pump, frame lock, and even the obligatory BMW towel !
I’ll be fine tuning the bike, prior to a fresh MOT, although not required as Classic status eligible. I’ll produce more detailed pics, and a start up, walk round video too, so just ask if you’d like more detail. Even at this price, I’ll consider YOUR classic Airhead in part exchange.
