“Collection by Vermant” is pleased to be able to offer you this magnificent Jaguar XK120 DHC. An estimated 75 percent of all XK’s was sold new in the USA and this specific XK120 was one of them. The XK120 DHC was the rarest model of the Left hand drive examples with only 1. 472 examples produced of a total of 10. 385 left hand drive examples. Sold new in 1954 to its first owner. In 1975 it was subsequently sold to its second owner from Phoenix, Arizona. In January of 1990 the car was sold to its second to last owner. Under his ownership, the car was completely restored from the ground up. Due to the dry climate of Arizona, this car had virtually no rust on its bodywork and chassis. Nonetheless, the car was completely dismantled and stripped back to bare metal. The car was meticulously build up again to a concours condition. Not only the bodywork, but also the complete drive train of the car were restored. After the restoration, the car was entered in the 1991 Jaguar Concours d’Elegance of Scottsdale. In this event, it took home first place in its class with a score off 96. 24. During the restoration a total of 75. 000 dollars was spent on getting the car in as new condition. In today’s money, this equals to an impressive 162. 000 euro’s. A complete picture gallery and every single invoice is available from the restoration of the car. Even the receipts of the checks that were used to pay for certain services are on file. After owning the car for 15 years, it was sold to its last owner. He exported the car to Belgium and also spared no expense on maintaining the car to a high standard.
The last owner really set out on making this XK120 the ultimate driver car by performing some well thought through upgrades. The car was not only made visually more sporty but also received the necessary upgrades underneath its skin. In recent years, this XK was upgraded to give the driver a more comfortable driving position. The seats have been upgraded to period correct bucket seats. These have been very recently upgraded with adjustable lumbar support. To further aid the driver, a EZ powersteering system was installed to make it easier to drive. The drive train of the car received the most upgrades. This XK was recently fitted with a correct 3. 4 litre engine with the coveted C-Type cilinder heads. This engine was completely rebuild before going into the car. To complement the rebuilt engine, a Getrag 5 speed gearbox was sourced from Guy Broad Spares, one of the leading specialist for Jaguar XK’s. This really transformed the driving experience of this xk120 and makes it very usable to drive. The new engine was paired to a new aluminium radiator and an electric colling fan to make it usable in modern day traffic and a variety of climates. An upgrades starter and alternator were also fitted to get the car up to modern standards. An important and sometimes overlooked aspect when upgrading an engine of a car is the braking and suspension system. The front drum brakes have been replaced with a disc brake conversion system and the suspension was upgraded. This doesn’t only make the car handle better, but also makes it safer to drive.
