Advertising on behalf of a customer . 1971 Ford Capri 3. 0 GT XLR. This car was imported 8 years ago and the owner spent a small fortune on it. After spending a fortune with a classic car repairer and losing faith in them, he pulled the plug on the project. It needs very little work to finish. It starts runs and drives and we have the current V5 here.
Body - Genuine and original 3. 0 shell. Good original inner wings, strut tops, floors, sills, arches. Very good structurally from front to back. Has been stone chipped underneath in body colour so you can see nothing is hiding. Could be a wee bit tidier underneath but a good solid strong shell. Paintwork is lovely and the car sits well. Rear bumper was recently replaced and the over riders and no plate lights are now fitted, which were missing in the pictures. Vinyl roof is the original and has one small tear on it on top, about finger nail size. New front window rubber and trim, new boot lid chrome trim. A very eye catching car.
Mechanics - Car starts and runs. Appears to have had fuel and brake lines replaced.
We are told the inlet manifold was replaced recently. Starter has been wired up to a push button which needs changing back to original. Engine sounds fine. Gearbox clutch and brakes all feel good. Will need checking over from front to back as we dont have a record of what was all done to it we can only say what we see.
Interior - Seats have recently been recovered. Will need original seat bolts put in a s someone has used a mish mash or different bolts. Door cards are also new. Steering wheel needs changed but there is an original one with the car which could do with a refurb. Again inside someone has done the hard and expensive work, it just needs finished off.
Wheels- Rostyles with chrome trim rings which are in good order.
