Reg. No. YVL 697
Frame No. FN109K

Built to resemble a New Imperial factory racer, this fantastic looking machine has real presence and is completely unique. The vendor the reports the project all started because he acquired 'the most fantastic New Imperial works tank' and just had to put a bike together from that as a base. The machine was painstakingly put together over the coming years using nothing but the best components; featuring a 1922/ 4 998cc JAP KTR racing V-twin side-valve engine, 1934 Douglas frame (verified by the VMCC), Sturmey Archer gears, Bonniksen 100mph speedo', Amal twin float remote carbs', Andre steering damper, 8ins drum brakes and hand-formed exhausts. The vendor states that the result is quite spectacular and the way it rides and the noise it produces often attracted attention from the local police, who just encouraged him to really open it up!
The machine was road registered in 2014 (shown on the V5C as the date of manufacture) although declared manufacture date is 1934, which is backed up from correspondence from the VMCC and London Douglas Owners Club. A reluctant sale, but the vendor has come to terms with the fact that he has had his fun having owned the machine for over 30 years and now it's time for a potential new custodian to 'ride it how it should be ridden!' Offered for sale with V5C, folders of correspondence to inc' owners club books, dating letters, archive images etc and rolling starter
