Description
Welcome to the sale of a truly exceptional, rare and beautiful Volkswagen Camper Van.
First purchased by Mr David Schalk Fouche of 24 Somerset Avenue, Dalvine Brakpan TVL, South Africa on 30th June 1961. As the original paperwork confirms.
This was the new model for 1961, the Westfalia SO34 Flipseat, still wearing 90% of its original paint! SK664 (Beige Grey L472 over Sealing Wax Red L53), fitted with safari windows, it's an absolute delight to drive, on a hot sunny day, the epitome of Splitscreen enjoyment.
Its original matching number 1200cc 40hp flat 4 engine still reliably propels the bus along. In fact, since the current custodian has had it in his possession for the last 14 years, he's travelled far and wide, including towing his original 1952 Berkeley Caravette teardrop caravan. With his two Brockhouse Corgi motorbikes on board to the Le Mans Classic, on more than one occasion.
There's only a handful of original SO34's in the world and to find another RHD in such condition is almost impossible.
Factor in that this still has so many original and often lost parts such as the Blaupunkt radio, complete with original instructions. The large tent, is in amazing condition, with a toilet section and an original toilet. The small tent, again superb. The folding chair, chandelier, the Emka shot glasses, the original Enders stove and even the Mauser washing-up bowl- It's simply an amazing bus.
Have a look inside and you'll see the original upholstery, curtains, sisal mat and cabinetry.
Look through the pictures and you'll see all the details.
