Description
The new W 124 mid-range model series was extremely important for Mercedes-Benz. After all, it represented a large part of the market success for many years. A small series was produced as early as autumn 1984 and it was clear that the successor to its enormously successful predecessor, the W 123, was a major task. The mere variety of different engines in the saloons, long-wheelbase versions, estate cars, coupés and cabriolets was unrivalled. The crowning glory of this model series, the 500 E (from 07/ 1993: E 500), was presented at the 1990 Paris Motor Show. As a speciality, the detail development and assembly was subcontracted to Porsche. The plan was to build 12 to 18 limousines per day. This was far too tight and, despite the high price of DM 135, 000, there were immediately long delivery times. Demand for this exceptional classic is still very high today.
Our Mercedes-Benz E 500 limousine was first registered in Japan and is now with the 3rd owner in Germany. The mileage is approx. 136, 000 km. The last major service was carried out in May 2023 at a Mercedes workshop.
