It’s a big deal when Land Rover launches a new Range Rover, the Range is the benchmark against which all luxury SUVs are judged. Land Rover must build a car that can shapeshift from a capable off-roader into a long-wheel-base limousine in a matter of seconds. It must be rugged and dependable, but yet well-insulated and luxurious, have the latest tech but retain historic charm. It’s not exactly a task you’d be envious of, especially knowing your work will be scrutinised by millions of adoring fans across the globe.
The L460 steps further into the boundary of luxury than any previous Range Rover. Whilst previous generations like the L322 and it’s mid-life facelifts pushed the Range Rover towards a more luxurious experience, no model has taken the leap as far as the L460. In fact, thanks to its build platform, it was reported that the new model would benefit from close to 24% reduction in noise, vibration and harshness.
This example was built in 2022, and is finished in Santorini Black. Externally, it's all business, especially as a vehicle specced with the desirable HSE trim level. The additional shadowline package means an assortment of dark shades throughout including the grille, trims and headlamps, which are finished off by tasteful optional 23” gloss-black alloys. The paintwork itself is in excellent shape, after all this car is just a few years old.
Despite being built around 5-decades after the original Range Rover was launched, clear styling cues continue throughout, the wrap-around bonnet and bonnet script all hark back to the earliest cars.
Step inside, and that luxury push is clear. An all digital display and a centrally mounted screen allow for the use of Apple Carplay or Android Auto if you’re so inclined. The seats are finished in a perforated semi-aniline leather, making them extremely soft to the touch and extremely comfortable. The interior is also beautifully lit, thanks to the standard fit panoramic roof.
You’ll be able to spot on the instrument cluster that this car has covered just over 21, 000 miles, which shows throughout the immaculate interior, with few signs of wear this will remain a luxury armchair to commute in for many, many years to come.
Under the bonnet, you’re met with a 3. 0 twin-turbocharged inline-6 diesel engine, which is supported by a mild-hybrid system. Whilst that's a lot of words, the key information is this, as a D350 it features circa 345 bhp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which will get you to sixty in around 6 seconds. Never fear though, thanks to its age, mild-hybrid status and efficiency you needn’t worry about ULEZ or other clean air zones around the country.

One thing that could stop you wanting to daily drive a Range Rover is its size, but thankfully for this generation that quip was addressed with the advent of rear wheel steering which allows the larger than life Rangie to manoeuvre itself with a 11. 4 metre turning circle, smaller even than the evoque.
That impressive task makes this arguably one of the best daily driver/ family cars on the market, more room than Mary Poppins’ handbag and a turning circle to rival that of a black cab. What more could you possibly ask for?
