The Porsche 986 Boxster, introduced in 1996, marked a significant milestone in the company's history. It was the first mid-engine roadster produced by Porsche since the iconic 550 Spyder of the 1950s. The Boxster's design blended classic Porsche styling cues with modern aesthetics, featuring a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette. Under the hood, it housed a horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, delivering impressive performance and an exhilarating driving experience. The 986 Boxster gained immense popularity, capturing the hearts of enthusiasts worldwide with its superb handling, precise steering, and open-top motoring pleasure. It paved the way for subsequent generations of the Boxster, solidifying its position as a beloved sports car in Porsche's illustrious lineup.

We are delighted to offer this Porsche Boxster 2. 7 finished in Seal Gray with black leather. First registered in March 2003, the car was supplied by Lindbrook Porsche in Kent and has had only 2 former keepers. The vehicle identification sticker is still on the underside of the bonnet and confirms the following specification:-

UK Lux Pack (C16)
Leather Edged Mats with Porsche Script (XX1)
Stainless Steel Logo entry guards (X70)
Headlamp Washers (288)
2 Way electric sports seats (375, 376)
17 Inch 986. 2 Boxster Alloys (394)
CD Compartment (424)
Colour Porsche Crest Wheel Caps (446)
Porsche Stability Management (PSM) (476)
Harmann Analogue Sound System (490)
Wind Deflector (551)
Top Tint Screen (567)
Automatic Climate Control (573)
Storage Box (584)
Xenon Lights (601)
Park Assist (635)
On Board Computer (659)
CDR-23 Becker CD-Radio (697)
Leather Dash and Door Panels (981)
Full leather Seats (983)

The car has clearly been looked after, with 12 stamps in the service book from mainly Porsche OPCs and marque specialists Tony Greatorex and OCD Independent Porsche Specialists. The last service was a major one in September 2022 at 59, 577 miles and included replacement of the drive belt. There is also a bundle of invoices to supplement the stamps giving details of work done. Notable entries are a new clutch and flywheel at 57, 434 miles and new front pads and discs at 53, 938 miles.

Porsche’s evolutionary approach to car design has its critics but it does mean that the cars age gracefully and we think the 986, particularly the facelift cars like this, are looking better than ever. The car presents nicely, with clear headlights and a black fabric hood that appears free from any obvious rips or tears. Also, this being a later car, it benefits from a glass rear window. We always like to see sports cars fitted with quality tyres, after all they’re the only thing connecting you to the road surface, and this car comes with matching Michelin Pilot Sports all round. The generous smattering of options contribute to a luxurious yet focused interior. Everything appears original, including the standard fit stereo, and is in very good order. The part-electric sports seats have a purposeful set of bolsters and, inevitably, there is a small amount of wear on the driver’s side but otherwise everything looks remarkably fresh for a 21 year old car. There is a handy, clear plastic wind deflector fitted between the roll hoops to keep things civilised when the top is down. Both boots are clean and the space-saver spare is present and correct.

The car comes with V5C, previous MOT, bundle of invoices and full book pack with wallet. Our vendor drove the car to us from his home in Devon, a pretty hefty trip of over 270 miles, which shows the confidence he has in this Boxster.

Boxsters are true Porsches and well known to outhandle their illustrious 911 brothers, however, current values for 986s simply don’t reflect their abilities. This beautiful example represents outstanding value and, if looked after, could represent a shrewd investment when the market wakes up.
