Description
Hello and welcome to the sale of this beautiful MG Midget.
Fresh from long term ownership of nearly 40 years, it is now sadly available only due to the bereavement of it's devoted keeper. It comes with a huge history file, comprehensively documenting expenditure and work carried out over the decades with invoices, notes and photographs. It has covered 108, 000 documented miles.
The bodywork and shell is also in fabulous order, with no corrosion to be found. According to the previous keeper's family and backed up by the paperwork, the car had some light refreshment including a respray around 20 years ago. It still looks great, very sharp and fresh without looking over restored, all finished in the original colour of the desirable Pageant Blue. All the bumpers, lights and trims are in decent order, and the panels are straight and true with no dings, dents or scrapes. The lights and glass even retain the period security etching of the registration number. The original rostyle wheels are fitted with good tyres and a roll over hoop is fitted for increased safety.
The gorgeous tan interior is the original, and in great condition. It comes with both the original steering wheel, and a tidy period small diameter Mountney sports steering wheel that looks cool and assists exit and entry! The simple folding vinyl roof is the original but still functional and presentable, and it has a very smart tonneau cover to keep everything neat on those drier roof down days.
I have just had the twin SU carbs tuned up by my old school mechanic, so it is starting and running really well with great power delivery. It has a single silencer exhaust fitted for that distinctive throaty sound. I have also just has the brakes checked and overhauled, including new shoes and cylinder kit, master cylinder and a full new handbrake mechanism and cables.
On the road it behaves very well, it accelerates nicely through the gears, the suspension is compliant with no knocks or bangs and it pulls up nicely under braking. Under the bonnet is very clean, neat and tidy and largely original with evidence of some maintenance and parts replaced as required in recent times.
The car is now tax and MOT exempt, and obviously qualifies for classic car insurance, so a simple and cost effective ownership prospect. To sum up this is an extremely attractive and usable example of this ever popular practical classic, it is in fabulous overall condition and will be sure to gain much admiration and enjoyment on the roads and at shows for years to come.
Part exchange considered and nationwide delivery available.
