Rover P4 (80) – Overdrive/ Lovely Original Classic
P4 was the Rover factory designation for a group of midsize luxury saloons produced between 1949 and 1964. The ‘Auntie’ became the obvious choice for the upwardly mobile middle class post war British family and today rightly attracts a loyal following.
Our Rover 80 was supplied new in February 1961 and the first owner retained his P4 until 1987. The new owner re-commissioned the car during 1988 and in 1996, when he sold her, the P4 found a new home in Ireland where she was cherished as part of a small private collection in County Louth. In 2015 the car returned to the UK. The last local owner purchased her in 2021 and has only parted with his beloved Rover to make way for a Milestones classic.
Summary since 2021:

· Mechanically very original and well maintained

Today the ‘80’ is one of the best driving P4’s that you could wish to own and enjoy. Mechanically the car has been meticulously maintained by the last owner at considerable expense and is simply “on the button”
The two-tone (Grampian Grey/ Norse Blue) paintwork presents well with a deep shine and the chrome work is very good having been well protected by years of polishing.
The interior looks and smells like a gentleman’s club from 1961 and is totally original with individual front seats (+£12 factory option), factory radio (£32 factory option). As you would expect, the factory tool kit/ tools are present
There is a large history box file with the car containing old versions of V5, Irish documentation, lots of invoices, contemporary Rover sales brochures and road tests plus magazines/ information from shows the car has participated in.
Nice P4’s are hard to find, and we expected this cherished ‘Auntie’ to find an appreciative custodian very quickly.
