Finished in unmarked Black Pearl over Mason's Black with gold fine lines. The green leather interior is totally original and untouched throughout.
Owned by the same Shropshire family from 1964 (The then elderly late Mr Charles Snr and shortly after the late Mr Charles Jnr).
Mr Charles Jnr had a position at Rolls Royce after the war before taking over the running of the family firm in the 1960's. The Rolls Royce was maintained and MOT'd over the years by the Rolls Royce factory service centre at Pym's lane Crewe, and additionally by the owner’s company workshop overseen by Mr Charles, for regular oil changes etc between visits to the Rolls Royce factory service centre. There is much correspondence within the history file from Rolls Royce during this time.
After very light use in fair weather during the '60's, ''70's and '80's and at less than 56, 000 miles, the Silver Cloud was carefully mothballed by the owner, the late Mr Charles in 1992 within a dehumidified dry garage. Oil and anti-freeze were periodically changed with regular startups to warm through. The leather was regularly fed and furniture polish applied to the original wood finishes.
Due to the advancing years of the long term owner, the late Mr Charles., a friend whom I had known for over 20 years, the difficult decision was taken to part with the Cloud and I was to be entrusted to become the next custodian and "safe pair of hands" who could be trusted to recommission, conserve and "future proof" the Rolls Royce for the next chapter.
The mechanicals are superb with impressive V8 performance, excellent oil pressure and cool running (please see the pictures of the dashboard gauges). The rear axle is silent, the transmission changes are very smooth and are the best I have experienced on this model. Excellent original cross hatch boot carpet is present. Correct Dunlop Fort cross ply tyres are fitted. All the original small and large tools and battery cover are present.
Please do not confuse this top class and highly original Silver Cloud with the usual high mileage restored offerings which are often unfortunately retrimmed , colour changed, multiple owned, sometimes imported from overseas without history or provenance and even colour changed would you believe.
This is the first time this Rolls Royce has been offered for sale on the open market for 60 years.
By far the best Silver Cloud I have ever seen.
