This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2024 - Motorcycles on Sunday the 10th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT.
OEC (Osbourne Engineering Company) was founded in 1915 and based in Gosport in Hampshire
Known for breaking the land speed record at 130mph in 1930 with a supercharged 1000cc JAP powered machine
OEC went on to produce a road going version of their record breaker using a normally-aspirated, JAP V-Twin engine
Four examples were produced for the Road Research Laboratory and used to test friction surfaces on British roads
This example was registered new in 1938 as EUC 23 and still retains that number
Originally fitted with a sidecar with a "skidding wheel" designed to evaluate road surfaces
Retired from the Ministry of Transport in the 1960s and acquired by the Connelly brothers as part of their Collection
The original engine was removed and fitted into a Brough Superior SS100
The bike then was bought by Mr David Blanchard who kept it for another 45 years until his passing in 2011
The last 10 years has seen the bike undergo a preservation rebuild including the fitting of a correct JTO 1000cc V-Twin JAP engine
Rebuilt into an earlier style 1931 OEC "Flying Squad" model
Complete with a comprehensive history file containing numerous receipts, correspondence, photos, articles, old RF60 log book, old V5s
Presented in highly original finish and in running order
