The 996 Turbo was a pivotal point in Porsche's modern history, with this flagship model the first water cooled 911 Turbo. With its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1999, with the cabriolet in this instance coming further along in the production run, Porsche knew it had to deliver something that reduced emissions but that packed a serious punch. The 911 GT1 derived 3. 6 litre twin turbocharged engine was utilised to deliver from factory 414hp and four wheel drive. The body was also wider than the standard car and the first Porsche model to include VarioCam Plus technology.
