For Sale '71 RHD Devon Moonraker-
I love the wonderful classic Volkswagens that we're asked to sell. There are so many different examples. Some are modified and some are stock... This example falls securely into the second category.
It was first registered on the 23rd December 1971. So I can only imagine it being an amazing Christmas present for a very lucky family.
As you can see it's a '72 year model, benefitting from disc brakes, larger air intakes on the rear corners and the larger rear lights.
Its only had 2 previous owners over it 53 year history, which is clear to see in its originality. The current owner refreshed the paintwork a couple of years ago, so it now wears Pastel white L90D over Brilliant orange L20B.
The body is in lovely condition, however, the real treasure of this bus is when you step inside... Starting in the cab, everything is totally original. The seats, door cards, rubber floor mat, right down to the Blaupunkt radio and even the Devon moonraker sticker!
One option it had right back in the day was the Philips cassette player, mounted below the dashboard.
Move through the walkthrough and into the back, you'll see the amazing original upholstery on the seats and even the curtains are original.
The Moonraker offers a twin gas hob and grill. Which can be used inside or swung through 90* to allow you to cook outside.
There's a tiny little sink, which even still retains its original plug. Which is about the same diameter as a new 10p.
There's plenty of storage throughout and the seating converts into various bed layouts.
You can have a single at low level or a double at low or high level.
The lovely concertina roof elevates, not only giving you more head room while camping but also allows light to flood in through the 6 clear roof windows.
Also within this, you have the 2 original hammock-style bunks.
Powered along by a 1600cc engine, it nips along at a leisurely pace to perfectly enjoy the scenery that you travel through.
