There is no more iconic Munich Legend than the E30 M3. Its hard to imagine that during the late nineties and early noughties, this world-beating car more or less dropped off the radar, with prices under ten grand for standard cars, and a huge choice available from the 14, 000+ standard cars produced for sale worldwide by the factory.
Twenty years on, and the E30 M3 is rightly credited with putting BMW Motorsport (M) on the world map, and is acknowledged by drivers and enthusiasts around the world as one of the most accomplished, intuitive, exciting driver’s cars of its era, with only a handful of other models even coming close to the M3’s achievements on or off the track. With the limited edition cars – evos and specials – now fetching between 130-275 thousand pounds (most of which are now heading to North America due to the import restrictions being removed) the ‘standard’ M3 models – which are all true homologation models of course – are in much demand at reasonable prices. Unfortunately, those legacy low values back in the 00’s means that many of them have been lost, due to neglect, crashes, irreversible modifications etc. We see hardly any standard cars you’d want to own.
However, we have found one for you – a genuine example with well under 50, 000 miles on the clock (about 73, 000 kms). Originally supplied to Italy, this car was imported into the UK by its current owner back in the early 00’s, when it made a brief visit to Munich Legends. Used sparingly (covering less than 7500 miles) until 2013 it has been in heated storage ever since (it shows) – its last MOT expired in 2013, so we can be sure the car has not been on the road. In the 20 years since arriving in the UK, the car has barely therefore covered 12, 000 kilometres. An original, pretty, sound car, in very good mechanical order, this particular example is actually one of the rarest of all – a solid, useable, well presented standard E30 M3 that will grace any collection or garage, and the new owner can rest assured that by caring for this lovely car, any investment will come with the peace of mind that this is one of the few examples left on the UK roads that fit into this diminishing category. Never abused, and with the same owner for more than twenty years (followed by one year in the hands of a very good customer who has done two European road trips) this car has a simple, indisputable provenance, and incredibly low mileage.

Many of the team at Munich Legends are past or present E30 M3 owners themselves, and it would be fair to say that over the years we’ve seen more of these cars than anyone else.
