EXTERIOR
In 2012 Mercedes created another niche in their growing roster of models – the gorgeous CLS Shooting Brake. With the lower roof line and narrower glass windows around the car this unique model looks svelte, sleek and unlike anything else on the road; a bold styling exercise that really stood out in amongst the usual box profiles of it’s competitors. With the tell-tale quad exit exhaust and huge brake discs the only giveaway – form is certainly not compromised for function here.
The optional Diamond White paint sparkles under our studio lights and perfectly accentuates the scalloped side and contour combination. Aligned with it’s age and use the bodywork shines consistently throughout and presents in first class condition.
INTERIOR
In typical MB / AMG fashion the cabin space is fully loaded with almost every conceivable extra and driver aid available at the time. The dynamic / massage seats offer both heated and cooling operation whilst Harman Kardon, COMAND and an Electric Sunroof sit amongst some of the spec list highlights.
The interior space is incredibly clean and as an occupant you feel totally immersed with the narrow window aperture and high waistline; safely nestled inside with fantastic seat support and excellent ergonomics made from the finest materials – it really is a special place to be.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Hugely powerful in both acceleration and acoustics, AMG have created another masterpiece – the M157 twin turbo 5. 5 litre V8 that swells with low end torque and a linear power delivery right up to redline. This Edition 1 specification also sees a considerable hike in power over the standard model – now equipped with a mighty 557hp and 590lb/ ft of torque. The refined MCT transmission provides a multitude of driving modes that alter the character of the car from approachable daily to B road brute; made all the more engaging by the wheel mounted paddles.
The engine bay is in excellent condition, pointing to careful maintenance and care throughout it’s life and as with every car produced at Affalterbach the engine is signed by its creator with the badge present and correct.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
With 19 inch Titanium Grey 5 spoke wheels in excellent condition, wrapped in the correct MO branded Continental tyres, the design offers a great view of the substantial braking system with the Silver calipers and white AMG labels on clear display.
On test drive, the brakes prove to be consistently impressive – one of the manufacturers strongest areas.
